hey everyone!
i have a edward scissorhands essay due tomorrow and i usually wouldn’t be stressed about it but i have alot of my grade riding on this.. my essay is on edward scissorhands and its about how this movie shows how people are often rejected …It would help if you’ve seen the movie but I really don’t mind i just need urgently help on how to explain things better… this is what I’ve done so far: please don’t hesitate to criticize my work cause I just really want it to be perfect :) thanks x

Edward Scissorhands the movie definitely depicts how people who are different in society are often excluded and made to feel unwanted. Peg Boggs is a kind mother who tries to keep the peace and please everyone but as she struggles to be accepted she is often rejected by her fellow housewives. Joyce Munroe, another housewife on the block is a flirtation lady always seems to be fighting for some male attention but just gets pushed away. In this movie, Edward Scissorhands himself is rejected from the very beginning by Jim, Kim’s boyfriend and their ‘loony neighbour Esmeralda.
Throughout this movie Edward is constantly rejected by Jim and Esmeralda. Edward is a man who has had to fend for himself not only in his abandoned house but also in society as a man with Scissorhands. Edward’s difference isn’t a problem for other members of the community but it seems to be not only a problem but a mark of vulnerability when against Jim, Kim’s intimidating boyfriend. Jim uses Edward as a source of ridicule during the movie and seems to be a bit jealous of Kim’s developing connection with Edward which is why he excluded Edward. When Edward accidently cuts Kim’s hand, Jim’s jealously soon turns to angry as he attacks Edward calling him a ‘freak’ and shouting ‘[Edward] You can’t touch anything without destroying it!’. Jim not only rejects Edward throughout the movie but he takes advantage of Edward’s love for Kim.
p.s i havent finished this para yet lol soz if its incomplete

First, you need to write an introduction to your essay. Start off with a very general statement about themes in movies. The next sentence might be about rejection. The last sentence would mention Edward Scissorhands as an excellent example of a movie depicting rejection as a major theme.

Then, you need three paragraphs, each one commenting on a different aspect of rejection. You might want to use rejection because of a difference in physical appearance as one aspect. Edward was accepted when the people found out he could trim hedges and cut hair, but as soon as he was suspected of something, he was immediately rejected again. That could be your second paragraph.

Lastly, he discovered he could never be a part of the majority’s society, and he removed himself from it. This could be a part of a paragraph about what is so often the result of rejection.

All you need now is a short conclusion. This is also only about three or four sentences long.
